very lame and not very funny

Posted : 2 days, 2 hours ago on 26 August 2008 05:51 (A review of Tropic Thunder)

Tropic thunder (like said in other reviews) opens with 4 fake trailers that is supposed to give us a little something before the movie starts. which pretty much what the whole movie is like throughout. a series of events that hardly have a point to them and are not very funny. although the acting is superb from the entire cast which includes Jack Black (who's roles lately have been somewhat different than his other films in the past).Robert Downey Jr.(Iron Man), and the leading man (who also directed and wrote the script ) Ben Stiller. there really is no goal for any of the main characters throughout this horrible attempt at a comedy. which leads us to what the movie is really like a series of events that have no major purpose other than to try and make us laugh but do not. the only thing i have to positively say about this movie is that it has a great soundtrack that sometimes doesn't fit or is to overbearing to the dialogue that is currently being said throughout the movie. if your looking for something hilarious check out Pineapple Express well worth the money.

UFC meets the O.C.

Posted : 2 weeks ago on 14 August 2008 12:37 (A review of Never Back Down)

Never Back Down is the story of Jake Taylor(Sean Faris, who has no relation to actress Anna Faris, and looks like a cross between Christian Bale and Tom Cruise) who has a tragic past with his father dying in a car accident that could have been prevented. Things get worse when Baja Miller(Amber Heard(pineapple express) who has quite the resume` at a young age)invites jake to a party at Ryan Mcarthy's(Cam Diganget(Who's your caddy)) place. only to find out that he was baited there only to get heavily beaten. This is when Jake meets Max Cooperman (Evan Peters(An American Crime)) who introduces him to 365 degree fighting and Jean Roqua (Dijmon Hounsou(Blood Diamond))who teaches him to control his anger and the outcome of any fight. Never Back Down in an interesting look at the UFC fighting style which someday might take over boxing.

another fun filled adventure

Posted : 3 weeks ago on 7 August 2008 06:42 (A review of Pineapple Express)

Pineapple express is the latest comedic misadventure produced by Judd Apatow and directed by David Gordon Green. Who take us on yet another fun filled Drug-induced adventure that stars Seth Rogen(who also writes the screenplay and story)as Dale Denton. a public servant who's job is to give out subpoenas to people who have not yet shown up to court and is also a stoner. The story gets interesting when we meet Saul Silver(James Franco in a surprisingly powerful performance as a stoner/dealer). after a visit with Saul, Dale inadvertently witnesses a murder In which Ted Jones (Gary Cole) and corrupt police officer Carol (Rosie Perez)brutally kill an asian man. does more plot come to play. when Dale runs back to saul's place and then does the does the one-liners seem to really roll out of these two pals. Don't miss Pineapple Express it's one comedy to keep you rolling on all fours

don't waste your time wait for it to come on tv

Posted : 3 weeks ago on 7 August 2008 05:30 (A review of The Mummy: Tomb of the Dragon Emperor)

The highly anticipated 3rd mummy movie starts off with a good introduction explaining how the Dragon Emperor wound up in Egypt in the first place. with a not all bad narration by Isabella Leong(Lin in the movie and Alex O' Connell's(Luke Ford who is new to film and television) love interest). But as the movie goes you'll realize that there are several plot holes and way to much action to keep you interested throughout this very uninteresting movie which reminds me of how bad Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom was. Tomb of the Dragon emperor tries to be epic but fails horrifically. With Rachel Wies gone Maria Bello fills in to play Rick's(Brendan Fraser) wife Evelyn who is all to charming and ready for the inevitable battle between the O'Connell's and the Dragon Emperor(Jet Li) who is all to animated throughout this 2-hour hunk of junk. I was personally disappointed with this movie and was waiting for this since i was twelve. the very first time i went to universal studios and watch them advertise the hell out of it. I was excited to hear that Rob Cohen(The fast and the Furious) was Directing. But, i should have known better seeing after seeing Cohen's Filmography on Imdb.com. and any curious fans of the mummy should check out the original mummy movie with Boris Karloff it's well worth the time.

Escape from new york with a twist

Posted : 3 weeks ago on 7 August 2008 12:56 (A review of Doomsday)

Think Escape From New York meets V for Vendetta with a Twist. Neil Marshall's(the Descent)Doomsday Starts off with an opening reminiscent of John Carpenter's Escape from New York. with all of Scotland and part of England enclosed in what the Parliament calls "the wall" which was built over a period of 20 years while a blockade was held in place to keep the people who were infected with the Reeper Virus out. also like Escape from New york except there were criminals and exiles in carpenter's flick. THe rules are simple no one in no one out.this is all explained with Malcolm McDowell's excellent narration within the first 30 minutes. Rhona Mitra Plays Major Eden Sinclair(who gives Jenifer Garner a run for her money) who was recruited by Prime Minister John Hatcher to find Dr. Marcus Kane(Malcolm McDowell) who was said to have made a cure for the virus. within 46 hours which is really like 43 after everything is said and done. to cure the people and save the world. Doomsday is definately worth a look at

action packed, more of the same

Posted : 1 month, 1 week ago on 22 July 2008 07:18 (A review of The Dark Knight)

as you all know the Dark Knight is a sequel to last summers Batman Begins and has recieved twice as much hype as the first movie. The Dark Knight is really more of the same with Heath Ledger Providing one awesome performance as the JOker who sets the bar higher than Liam Neeson's Henri Ducard/Ra's Al Ghul the one spirited man who used two bodies to foil with batman.

the Dark knight like it's predecessor has one hell of a cast which includes Gary Oldman(Lt. Jim Gordon),Aaron Eckhart(Harvey Dent), Maggie Gyllenhaal(Rachel Dawes), Morgan Freeman(Lucius Fox),Eric Roberts(salvatore Maroni),Michael Caine (alfred Pennyworth) and cillian Murphy as the scarecrow.

The Dark knight which is just as long as Batman Begins, a whole two and a half hours, is action packed from the begginning wich has batman stopping the scarecrow from robbing a bank with the mob led by Salvatore maroni while the Joker is simultaneously doing the same thing and getting away with it. and once batman is done with them he leaves Lt. Jim GOrdon to clean up as usual.

This leaves Harvey Dent and Rachel Dawes To procescute the mob putting 200 men in jail at once thanks to the judge giving Dent an arrest warrant. this all happens within the first half an hour.

Maggie Gyllenhaal who replaced Katie Holmes as Rachel Dawes fits the character more and is more enigmatic. although as someone who just picked up this new series won't even notice the diference. however, Rachel Starts Dating Dent and creates a love triangle for Bruce when he tells Rachel that that time when two can be together is nearly there.

Heath Ledger's perfomance as the joker Blows Jack Nicholson's performance in the original batman out of the water. because not only is the joker more pychotic he has his way of having fun as well.

The Dark knight is the best installment in the batman franchis thus far do not miss the summer blockbuster

an intersting twist ont he superhero movie

Posted : 1 month, 2 weeks ago on 12 July 2008 10:39 (A review of Hancock)

will Smith stars as John Hancock. Not your average superhero who at first is drunk then realizes that there is more to life and he is not alone. However, this more serious look at superheroes is quite interesting.the first 30 minutes of the movie seems to be an action/adventure but then turns to a serious look at life through a superheroes eyes.

Jason Bateman who seems to be a regular in peter Berg's film seems to be Hancock's saving grace. and himself is having issues at work with "changing the world". When Hancock and Ray (Bateman) collide, people Get mad because of the way Hancock handles the situation and then ray stands up for him. thus, being one of the many turning points in the movie. there is 2 big twists that happen in the movie and are very hard to explain with out ruining it for the people who want to see so i will leave up to you guys to go and see and decide for yourselves.

very very good

Posted : 1 month, 2 weeks ago on 12 July 2008 10:26 (A review of Hellboy II: The Golden Army)

Guillermo Del Torro's Hellboy 2: THe Golden army opens with an awesome introduction. with a younger version of beast himself in 1955 New mexico in which John Hurt is telling Hellboy(Ron Perlman) a bed time story about the Golden army. then as usual winds up fighting the army itself of course with some help from Abe Sapien (Doug Jones), Liz Sherman (Selma Blair) and johann Krauss (Seth Macfarlane) who is the new addition to the family.

Luke Goss provides one hell of a performance as the villain Prince Nuada who will stop at nothing to rise the golden army. and is well supported by Anna Walton Who plays his sister Princess Nuala who later develops a love interest for abe.

it was great to see Gullermo Bring back John Hurt even though it was only for one scene. and master yet another wonderful, colorful, and action packed yet comedic piece of art of a movie. However, Selma Blair's character even a main role it seemed she only had a few good scenes and one impticular that kind of sets you up or the next installment inf the franchise. I must say though that this has been the best Blockbuster movie i have seen so far

action packed, however not as advertised

Posted : 1 month, 2 weeks ago on 10 July 2008 12:22 (A review of The Last Sentinel [2007])

Kind of mix of Battlestar Galactica , Terminator, and the Chronicles of Riddick. The last sentinel is about an army of politicians/police officers called Drone police whose ultimate goal to rid the earth of all crime and civil unrest. however, the military as we used to know it is no-longer the same instead of humans they are cyborgs alike the Drones.

Don Wilson plays Dallas a cyborg who is the lone survivor of an all out attack on the Drones. which is the first 30 minutes of the movie with flashbacks of the attack on the drones to fill in the opening in which Dallas is seen walking around and over a tower/building where his platoon was wiped out.

Shortly after Dallas is done having a conversation with his dead Colonel played by an all to Ready for action Keith David. Dallas walks out into the street to see a white van chasing a small sedan filled with Drones shooting back and fourth. Katee Sackhoff whose name is never revealed and is credited only as girl is thrown from the van. and once all the drones have left the area does Dallas leave from atop the building in which he was hiding in to come and bring her to back to health. the training begins with the girl and then leads to an all out frontal assault on a building said to hold a disk in which the girl must return to her militia.

the last sentinel which is action packed and is misadvertised on the dvd case which claims that the girl is earths last hope. this will be obviously shown otherwise once you view it. I recommend this movie to any and all sci-fi fans. with cyborgs that look like necromongers and red suits that have a similar look to iron man whats not to like about the Last Sentinel.
